Internal Revenue Service

IRS (Internal Revenue Service)

The IRS is the United State’s tax collecting and tax enforcing division of the federal government. The IRS acts under the authority of the U.S. Department of Treasury. The IRS collects, individual, employment, corporate taxes and more.

The 4 main divisions of IRS are:

Wage & Investment
Small Business & Self-Employed
Large & Midsized Business
Tax Exempt & Government Entities

The IRS randomly audit individuals and businesses, and look closly and specific groups, like self-employed businesses. So make sure your income does not fluctuate from year to year or you don’t falsly donate to every church on the street. If you owe to much, the IRS holds the right to take a lien on an asset (ie; a vehicle) to make up for unpaid taxes.

The IRS have hotlines to call if you have any questions. You can visit the IRS website here.
